Brisbane's Mac Support Service

Geeks Brisbane provides Mac support across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. If your Mac is running slow, macOS won't behave, you've bought a new MacBook and need everything moved across, or your email and Wi-Fi won't play nicely — we sort it out, at your place or remotely.

How pricing works: you book a one-hour technician session — $205/hr onsite (we come to you) or $125/hr remote. During that session we diagnose and resolve the problem.

To be straight with you: we're a support and setup service, not a hardware repair workshop. We don't replace MacBook screens or batteries, and we don't do logic-board or liquid-damage repairs. If your Mac turns out to need physical repair, we'll tell you honestly during the diagnosis and point you to Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider rather than charge you for work we can't finish.

We support all Apple desktops and laptops: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro (M1–M4), iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro and Mac Studio.

No surprises, no wasted call-out fee.

Mac support we provide

  • Slow Mac diagnosis and speed-up
  • macOS troubleshooting, updates and reinstallation
  • New Mac setup and configuration
  • Data migration and Time Machine backup setup
  • Mac virus and malware removal
  • Email, Microsoft 365 and iCloud setup on Mac
  • Wi-Fi, printer and device connection issues
  • Apple ID, password and iCloud account help
  • "Mac won't turn on" diagnosis — we identify the cause
  • One-on-one Mac training and tech help

Hardware repairs we don't provide

  • MacBook screen replacement
  • MacBook or iMac battery replacement
  • Logic-board and component-level repair
  • Liquid and water-damage repair
  • Data recovery from physically failed drives
  • Keyboard, trackpad and port replacement

We can still diagnose these and tell you exactly what's wrong and what it should cost — then refer you to Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider. If the fix is hardware and we can't do it, we'll say so upfront.

Common Mac Problems & When to Call Us

Try these first — they fix a good share of the calls we get

Mac Not Turning On — Troubleshooting Steps

Before calling us, try these quick steps:

  1. Check that your charger is plugged in and the cable is not damaged
  2. Hold the power button for 10 seconds, release, then press again
  3. For Intel Macs: reset the SMC (hold Shift+Control+Option+Power for 10 seconds)
  4. For Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4): press and hold the power button for 20 seconds
  5. Try a different power outlet and charger if available

Still won't turn on? It could be a charger, software or internal power fault. Book a Mac diagnostic or call 1300 600 004 — we'll identify the cause and, if it turns out to need hardware repair, tell you exactly what to ask for rather than charge you for a fix we can't do.

Mac Running Slow — Quick Fixes vs When You Need Help

Try these quick fixes first:

  1. Restart your Mac (many people never fully shut down)
  2. Check storage: Apple menu > About This Mac > Storage — if nearly full, clear space
  3. Close unused apps and browser tabs (check Activity Monitor for memory hogs)
  4. Update macOS to the latest version
  5. Disable unnecessary startup items in System Settings > Login Items

When you need professional help: if your Mac is still slow after these steps, you may have malware, a misbehaving app, a full or failing drive, or a deeper macOS issue. We run full diagnostics, clean out malware, and optimise your system. Book a Mac speed-up — most are sorted in a single one-hour session.

Moving to a New Mac — What to Do First

Getting a new MacBook or iMac is the easiest time to get things right:

  • Back up the old machine first — Time Machine or a cloud backup, before anything else
  • Don't rush Migration Assistant — a bad migration carries old problems onto a clean Mac
  • Check your app licences — some need deauthorising on the old Mac first
  • Mind your iCloud storage — a full iCloud silently breaks photo and mail sync

We do the whole move for you — files, photos, mail, apps and settings — in one session. Book a Mac setup.

Mac Support FAQs

Common questions about Mac help in Brisbane

Do you repair MacBook screens or batteries?

No. We're a Mac support and setup service, not a hardware repair workshop — we don't replace MacBook screens or batteries, and we don't do logic-board or liquid-damage repairs. We can diagnose the fault and tell you what's wrong and roughly what it should cost, then point you to Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider. For software, setup, migration and troubleshooting, we can help same-day.

How much does Mac support cost in Brisbane?

Remote support is $125/hr and onsite visits are $205/hr. Most Mac software, setup and migration jobs are done within a single one-hour session. Business and managed Mac support is quoted after a site assessment. We give you upfront pricing before any work starts.

Can you set up my new MacBook and move everything across?

Yes — this is one of our most common Mac jobs. We set up your new Mac, migrate files, photos, mail, apps and settings from your old machine (Mac or Windows), sign you into iCloud and Microsoft 365, connect your printer and Wi-Fi, and set up a Time Machine backup. Usually one onsite session.

My Mac won't turn on — can you help?

We can diagnose it. Plenty of "won't turn on" Macs are a charger fault, an SMC glitch or a macOS problem — all things we fix. If the diagnosis shows a hardware fault such as a failed logic board or liquid damage, we'll tell you honestly and refer you on rather than charge you for a repair we don't perform. Try the troubleshooting steps above first.

Can you get rid of a virus or pop-ups on my Mac?

Yes. Macs do get malware — usually browser hijackers, fake "cleaner" apps and adware rather than classic viruses. We remove it, undo the browser changes, and secure your Mac so it doesn't come back. This can normally be done remotely at $125/hr.

Do you support Macs for businesses?

Yes. We support Mac and mixed Mac/Windows offices across Brisbane — user setup, Microsoft 365, shared drives, printers, backups and security. See Business IT Support for managed options, which are quoted after a site assessment.

No Fix, No Fee applies to standard remote and on-site technical support where we are unable to resolve your issue. It excludes hardware repairs, does not guarantee a resolution within the minimum one-hour visit, and does not cover additional labour time or parts, which remain payable. Where additional work is quoted and not accepted, No Fix, No Fee does not apply to that work.
