Should I build my own PC or have it built professionally?

If you're an experienced PC builder, you can absolutely DIY and save the build fee. Professional builds make more sense if (a) you want someone to spec the parts so they actually work together, (b) you want a 24-hour stress test before delivery, (c) you want one warranty contact instead of arguing with three retailers when one part fails, (d) you want delivery and onsite setup at home, or (e) it's your first build and you'd rather not deal with bent CPU pins, mis-seated RAM, or fitting a 360mm AIO blind.

How long does a custom Brisbane PC build take from order to delivery?

Typical turnaround is 5–10 business days from approved quote. About 3–6 days for parts to arrive from our AU distributors, then 1–2 days for assembly, 24 hours of burn-in stress testing, and final QA before pickup or delivery. We can rush a build for a small additional fee if you've got an urgent deadline — fastest we've turned around a full RTX 5080 rig in-stock is 36 hours.

Do you stock parts or order to spec?

Mostly we order to spec — this means you get exactly the parts you want, fresh from AU distributors with full warranty registration, rather than whatever's gathering dust on a shelf. We do keep some popular parts in-stock (RTX 5060 / 5070 / 5080, common Ryzen chips, popular cases) which lets us offer rush builds when needed.

Can I supply my own parts and just have you assemble it?

Yes — we offer assembly-only at a flat fee (typically $250–$400 depending on complexity, AIO loops cost more). We'll still cable-manage, install Windows, and stress-test. Note that warranty claims for customer-supplied parts go through the original retailer (you), not us — and we can't be responsible for parts that turn out to be incompatible if you specced them yourself. We're happy to review your wishlist before you buy if you want.

What warranty do I get on a Geeks Brisbane custom build?

Every component carries its manufacturer warranty (GPUs 3 years, motherboards 3 years, RAM lifetime, PSUs 5–10 years, NVMe SSDs 5–10 years, CPUs 3 years). On top of that, we add a 3-year Geeks Brisbane labour warranty — if anything we touched (cabling, assembly, OS install) causes a problem inside that window, we fix it free. We're a registered Australian business (ABN 65 676 034 110), so ACL consumer guarantees also apply.

Do you build small-form-factor (SFF) PCs?

Yes — we build SFF and Mini-ITX rigs (Fractal Terra, Lian Li A4-H2O, Cooler Master NR200P MAX, Hyte Y40 / Y70 hybrids, FormD T1) regularly. SFF builds carry a slight surcharge over standard ATX because they take longer to assemble cleanly and require careful thermal planning, but they're great for desktop space, LAN portability, or just looking neat under a TV.

Can you upgrade my existing gaming PC instead of building new?

Yes — GPU swaps, RAM/SSD additions, AIO upgrades, even full motherboard + CPU platform changes are very common. We're honest about when an upgrade makes sense vs starting fresh — if you'd be spending more than ~60% of a new build to upgrade an old chassis with outdated platform (e.g. AM4, Intel 10th gen, PCIe 3.0), starting clean usually wins. Do you offer financing or payment plans on a Brisbane PC build?

We accept card, bank transfer, and BPAY. For builds over $2,500 we can split payment 50% deposit / 50% on delivery. We can also accept Afterpay / Zip Money on builds up to their per-transaction limits. For larger workstation orders, we can issue a tax invoice on standard 7- or 14-day terms for ABN-registered businesses.

Will the build come with Windows installed?

Yes — Windows 11 Home or Pro installed, fully Windows-Update'd, with proper drivers, GPU drivers, latest BIOS/firmware, and the usual Microsoft / OEM bloatware removed. We can also pre-install Steam, Battle.net, Epic Games, Discord, OBS, your monitor's calibration profile, and your favourite browser with your accounts already signed in — just send us a list at quote time.

Do you handle the delivery + monitor + peripheral setup at my home?

Yes. For Brisbane metro deliveries we can carry the PC inside, position it, plug in your monitor (single or multi-monitor), keyboard, mouse, headset, and any audio gear (DAC, mic, Stream Deck). We'll do the first-boot Windows finalising, sign you into your accounts if you want, and confirm the system is gaming smoothly before we leave. Delivery + setup is typically $90 within Brisbane metro and around $150–$250 for Gold Coast / Sunshine Coast / Ipswich runs.

What if the GPU I want is out of stock or paper-launch?

We'll tell you honestly. If a GPU (especially fresh RTX 5080 / 5090 launches) is on long backorder, we'll suggest the closest alternative (e.g. 5080 → 5070 Ti, 5090 → 5080), or offer to ship the rest of the build first and add the GPU later under one ticket. We won't quietly substitute a different card without your say-so.

Can you build a streaming PC or dual-PC stream rig?

Yes — both. The RTX 50-series AV1 NVENC encoder is so good that single-PC streaming is the right call for 95% of new streamers (saves you ~$1,500 and a second desk). For 1440p/4K full-bitrate Twitch or competitive players who can't lose any FPS, a dedicated capture PC + Elgato 4K60 MK.2 is still the gold standard — we build those too, with Stream Deck XL, Wave XLR, scene templates, OBS profiles for YouTube/Twitch/Kick, and a clean second-monitor Streamlabs / OBS layout.

Can you build a workstation for AI / Stable Diffusion / local LLMs?

Yes. For local LLMs and Stable Diffusion / Flux work the GPU VRAM is the biggest lever — we'd usually steer you to an RTX 5080 16GB (mid-range), RTX 5090 32GB (high-end), or for serious LLM work a dual-GPU setup with two RTX 4090s 24GB / RTX 5090s, or an NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada workstation card.
