Privacy Policy
Geeks Brisbane is an Information Technology managed services provider offering remote support, in-person (on-site) support, website development, and SEO services to home and business clients. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy is prepared in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). It explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, the cookies and online-advertising technologies we use, and the choices and rights available to you.
1. Personal Information We Collect
When you engage with us, we may collect personal information necessary to provide our services, including:
- Name;
- Email address;
- Phone number;
- Physical address; and
- Details of your enquiry and the services requested.
We collect this information directly from you through website forms, phone calls, emails, and direct communication. We also automatically collect certain technical and usage information when you visit our website — see section 4, Cookies, Tracking Technologies and Online Advertising.
2. Dealing With Us Anonymously
Where it is lawful and practicable to do so, you may deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym — for example, when making a general enquiry. However, we will usually need your contact details to respond to a request, provide a quote, or deliver remote or on-site support, and we may be unable to provide those services without them.
3. How We Use Your Personal Information
We use your personal information to:
- Provide the IT services you have requested, including remote and on-site support (during a remote support session we access your device only with your consent and at your direction);
- Communicate with you about your enquiry, booking or service;
- Enhance and tailor our service offerings;
- Measure, deliver and improve our advertising and understand how visitors use our website; and
- Meet our legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations.
We will only use your information for a purpose for which it was collected, a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or another purpose to which you have consented or which is permitted by law.
4. Cookies, Tracking Technologies and Online Advertising
Our website uses cookies, web beacons, pixels and similar tracking technologies to operate the site, understand how visitors use it, and to deliver and measure advertising. Some of these technologies are provided by third parties, and information about your activity on our website is collected by and shared with those third parties for advertising, remarketing and marketing purposes. The services we use include:
- Microsoft Advertising (Bing) — Universal Event Tracking (UET) tag. Microsoft collects information about your visit (pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location, IP address, and device/browser data) to measure ad performance and to show you our ads across the Microsoft Advertising Network, including Bing and partner sites — known as remarketing (retargeting).
- Google — Google Analytics and Google Ads. Google collects similar information to measure traffic and ad performance and to show you our ads across Google Search, the Google Display Network and partner sites (remarketing).
Through these tools, your information may be combined by these providers with other data they hold to deliver more relevant advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
- Microsoft Advertising: account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings
- Google Ads: adssettings.google.com
- Google Analytics: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Your Online Choices (AU): youronlinechoices.com.au

- Block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
For more information, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement and the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Payment Information
Geeks Brisbane does not store your card or payment-method details on our systems. Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe, and your payment information is transmitted directly to Stripe. Stripe’s handling of your information is governed by its own privacy policy (stripe.com/au/privacy).
6. Disclosure of Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it to:
- Service providers who assist in our operations and service delivery (such as payment processing by Stripe, and IT, hosting and remote-support tools);
- Analytics and advertising providers (such as Microsoft Advertising and Google) via the tracking technologies described above, to measure and deliver advertising and remarketing;
- Law enforcement, regulators or government bodies when required or authorised by law; and
- Other parties where necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Geeks Brisbane, our clients, or the public.
7. Overseas Disclosure
Some of the service providers above (including Microsoft, Google and Stripe) are located outside Australia, including in the United States. By using our website and services, you consent to the disclosure of your information to these overseas recipients for the purposes described in this policy. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
8. Data Security
We protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure using reasonable technical and organisational security measures. While we take care to safeguard your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including to meet our service, legal, accounting and tax obligations. When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.
10. Data Breaches
We maintain procedures to detect, assess and respond to data breaches. If a breach of personal information is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
11. Access, Correction and Deletion
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. You may also request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal obligations that require us to retain it. To make a request, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, generally within 30 days.

We will aim to acknowledge your complaint promptly and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
